- Joel & LaBreeska have been married for 49 years and have
made their home in Nashville, Tennessee for the past 34 years.
- They have sung Gospel music for over 40 years having signed
as artists with Canaan-Word Records in 1966.
- They have written and recorded over 350 gospel songs including
such classics as, "He's Still Workin' On Me," "Consider
The Lilies," "Master Of The Wind," "Let's
Have A Revival," "The Only Real Peace," "I
Claim The Blood," "The Sweetest Words He Ever Said"
and "I Came On Business For The King."
- They have written and recorded 6 #1 songs which include "I'm
In This Church," "Good Things," "I'll Soon
Be Gone," "It Wasn't Raining When Noah Built The Ark,"
and "He's Still Workin' On Me," which topped the "Singing
News" chart for 8 months. Over a twenty-year period, from
1970-1990, they had an average #8 song on the "Singing News"
Chart.
- They are recipients of 8 Dove Awards and 3 BMI Awards of Excellence.
Joel received a Dove nomination as Songwriter of the Year for
10 different years.
- LaBreeska is the author of an inspirational book "Partners
In Emotion" which is published by Trumpet Call Books of Joelton,
Tennessee. Joel's book "To God Be The Glory," a biblical
study of the person of God, is also published by Trumpet Call
Books.
- Joel & LaBreeska are joined by Robb Elders, a powerful
& anointed singer and minster, who moved to Nashville with
his family in September 2005 to be a part of their ministry.
- In the past several years, Joel & LaBreeska Hemphill have
taken gospel music to many foreign countries, having toured and
performed concerts in England, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa,
Canada, Honduras, Newfoundland, as well as the states of Alaska
and Hawaii. In 2002 and 2004 they did concerts in Israel, some
sponsored by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
- Their television appearances include, The Grand Ole Opry, Crook
and Chase, The 700 Club, TBN and Gospel Country. They are regulars
on the Gaither Homecoming videos and were invited guest at the
White House for a big Gospel singing when President Carter was
in office.
